Specialized Mental Health Care for Perimenopausal and Menopausal Women

Because you deserve healthcare that understands you

What is Enlight Mental Health and Wellness?

Enlight provides mental health services to  perimenopausal and menopausal women. Historically, middle aged women have been told by the medical establishment to “suck it up” and “deal with” the multitude of symptoms experienced during the menopause transition. Most women start to experience mental health symptoms before physical symptoms- anxiety that comes out of nowhere, mood swings, irritability, brain fog, lack of focus or “scatter brained”, depression or sadness, lack of focus, lack of motivation, insomnia, and many more. If treatment is started, it is usually a prescription for an antidepressant or sleep aid; the root cause of hormone imbalance or deficiency is not addressed. At Enlight, you receive a comprehensive mental health evaluation and discuss if hormone imbalance could be causing your symptoms. If appropriate, hormone replacement will be discussed and prescribed at your visit.

BHRT FAQs

What is hormone replacement therapy?

HRT, Hormone Replacement Therapy, is the prescription treatment to replace or “boost” the vital hormones a woman needs for optimal health. Estrogen, Progesterone, and Testosterone steadily decline as a woman enters perimenopause; once menopause is reached these levels can be so low that they are not detectable. Perimenopause can start for a woman in her 30s and last until she reaches menopause. The decline in these hormones can trigger a multitude of symptoms. Some of the most common include hot flashes, mood swings, and vaginal dryness. Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is a prescription treatment used to boost hormone levels, by replenishing the estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone that diminish over time.

Once HRT is started and symptom relief achieved, HRT is recommended lifelong. The benefits of HRT after menopause are multifactorial and shown to prevent many chronic diseases
